Transforming words on a script to movie magic is hard work! Although our latest film, The House of Secrets, has been turning heads in the film world, it’s important to remember that a film is only as good as its crew.

Talking about his experience playing Panam in a Twitter Space with ShockNg, Shawn Faqua gave a shout-out to the movie crew for creating such a fantastic environment. But is this true, or did he just say it because Baba Dudu (iykyk) was on the space with him?

So we reached out to some of our crew from The House of Secrets, to find out what it was like for them working on an Anthill Studio’s set, Here’s what they said:

Inumidun Oladejo worked on the production as the Cast Chaperone. This means she was responsible for coordinating our actors, making sure they were well cared for and got everything they needed to be ready to shoot. This is what she had to say:

“I had always anticipated working with Anthill Studios and when I finally got here, it was nice! I noticed that what they just want from you is to do what what you’re good at. As long as you deliver, there’s no problem. We work like family, gist, go ‘good morning, how are you’ when we see each other. I enjoy working with Anthill and never want to stop.”

Udu, Head of Makeup, Hair and SFX and CEO of BeautiflyByUdu, was enthusiastic with her answer, since she had just been discussing this very thing with a friend:

“It’s awesome! It feels like home. I feel so relaxed while the work is moving. No cap. No jokes. Sincerely, I never want to finish the work to finish. I feel so relaxed. You don’t feel under pressure because everything is moving.”

Niyi Oyekanmi, first Assistant Director for The House of Secrets had this to say:

“Amazing. The atmosphere is wonderful. Good energy. Friendly environment where you can express yourself creatively. But the most important thing for me with Anthill is the positive energy.”

Jacob Okoli who was the key grip on set said much the same like others:

“For the House of Secrets, it was nice working on set. It wasn’t easy because many scenes were single shots and it was a little challenging keeping equipment steady until the end. But it was really nice for me.”

For Oluwaferanmi Dada, working as a light runner on The House of Secrets set was the first time he had ever worked with Anthill. He had this to say:

“That was my first time working with Anthill and I feel first impressions matter, you know. I learnt a lot stuff I didn’t know. I got to understand so many things and I made new friends. It was a great experience for me.”

Each member of every crew at Anthill Studios is important to us, and the set of The House of Secrets wasn’t different. Niyi Akinmolayan, our creative director, doesn’t tire of emphasising that people are PEOPLE, not tools, and every movie set is just about the crew as it is about the story.

Now that another movie is in the works, and most of the same people are here again, it’ll be interesting to see what stays the same and what changes in how they feel on an Anthill Set.
